Ricoh GXR + 50mm f/2.5 macro module

Back in November 2009 Ricoh introduced the GXR modular camera system, in which lenses and sensors come in a single block (module, but called “lensor” by Thom Hogan) and the body is a separate entity, as is the viewfinder, either optical or electronic. I predicted back then it would flop given the prices for each of the pieces. Well it hasn’t flopped, and it hasn’t surged, it’s just kept going quietly along, marching to the beat of its own drum.

Maybe because of my pessimism, or maybe due to greater sins, Amin Sabet, head honcho at SeriousCompacts.com, allowed me to review the GXR with the two APS-C modules currently available. Click to read the review, and if you enjoy compact cameras, open an account and join the conversation.

Good light and good luck,
